Can AI answer my business phone after hours?
Yes. Your carrier forwards the calls you cannot pick up to a number we set up, and the AI answers from rules you wrote. By default it says on the first turn that it is an automated assistant, takes the caller's details, books where your Feerasta booking calendar is set up, and passes the caller to a person on request. We suggest starting with after-hours calls and overflow.
What happens on a call
- The customer dials your number and your carrier passes the call to us: always, after a number of rings, or when you are busy, as you chose.
- The AI says it is an automated assistant and names your business.
- It answers what you taught it, such as hours, prices and whether you take new customers.
- It books where your booking calendar is set up and otherwise takes a message.
- You get a written record of what was said and a plain summary.
When a person takes over
A caller who asks for a person is transferred to the number you chose. If nobody can take the call, the agent takes a message and never hangs up on the caller.
Safety outranks configuration. A complaint or a request for regulated advice is checked before anything you set up, is not answered from your rules, and the call is marked urgent for you.
What it will not do
A question nobody set up an answer for is not guessed at. The agent takes the caller's contact instead. That is a real limit, and we state it plainly.
On your own customer phone line the voice is a standard phone voice. The more natural voice is the one in our demos.
Before any customer hears it
Every channel starts switched off. Before it can go live it runs a set of hard practice questions, including angry callers and requests for advice it must not give. If it fails a serious one, it stays off. You and your staff then call it yourselves, staff-only first, before it opens to the public.
Common questions
Do I keep my existing phone number?
Yes. Your customers keep dialling the number they know. Your carrier passes the calls you choose to a number we set up for you.
What if a caller wants to talk to a person?
The call goes to the number you chose. If nobody can take it, the agent takes a message and does not hang up.
Does the AI tell callers it is not a person?
Yes. On the first turn it says it is an automated assistant and names your business. It is on by default and locked on in the EU, Portugal and for health care in Utah. Elsewhere you may switch it off for incoming calls after accepting responsibility, and the choice is recorded.
